Serving on a Committee or Advisory Board

The Land Conservancy has many opportunities for community involvement - from office help, to planting and weeding, to serving on a committee - and many ways for people in this community to contribute to our work. Whether you have a few hours or lots of volunteer time, we have a place for you in our organization. Below are some of the options for those interested in serving on a committee or advisory board:

Special Events

Members of this committee work on one or more of the exciting special events that support the Land Conservancy. They include Spring for White Point, and the Fine Art Show. Members are currently being sought to chair certain aspects of each event (such as the raffle or entertainment) or just to help with planning and volunteer time.

Finance/Audit

This committee reviews the financial operations of the organization and reports to the Board. Community members are currently being sought with financial, accounting, legal and real estate expertise for the organization's general operations and for the capital campaign;

Human Resources

This committee reviews the employee manual and employment policies. Members are currently being sought with human resources expertise.

Advisory Boards

• Forrestal - Advisory Board has recently convened to implement the approved Management Plan. If you are interested in participating as a member, please watch for vacancy notices in the future.
  
  
• Scientific Advisory Board - This committee will provide scientific advice about the work of the Land Conservancy; bring awareness of the preserves and the possibilities for research to educational institutions; and make connections that make internships feasable.

Capital Campaign Committee

This committee will work with the community to raise the $6 million that is needed to make the Portuguese Bend Nature Preserve a reality. Members are being sought who are community leaders, people with access to funding and those who want to play a key role in preserving the quality of life on the Peninsula. We are also seeking those with design, printing or fundraising resources to offer.

Community Support

This committee will obtain resolutions of support for Portuguese Bend acquisition from community organizations. Members will develop a list of organizations and assist with approaching various organizations to solicit support.
