Special Events Committee(s)
The Land Conservancy has an ongoing Special Events Committee that assists with all of its events. It is an outstanding group of people and its work is greatly appreciated. More members of this fun and rewarding committee are always welcome. You can participate for just one event, or year round.
Spring for White Point
The event takes place around the beginning of May, and is organized by members of the White Point Steering Committee and community members. The funds raised make it possible to complete the transformation of the White Point property into a functioning nature preserve. It includes an evening reception with great food provided by San Pedro restaurants, live music, an art and silent auction, and lots of fun. Tasks include soliciting donations for the auctions and food, setup and cleanup, and staffing the event.
Special Events
The Land Conservancy holds several events throughout the year that inform our supporters about significant program developments. There is also an annual Plein Air Art Show now in its 12th year with an original collection created by the Portuguese Bend Artists Colony. Committee members use their creativity and experience to help develop and produce a successful event.
Volunteer Picnic
This event happens in the fall, and is expected to become the signature event of the Conservancy. Particpants purchase a table and chairs for eight and bring their own picnic. There is live music, children's activities, and a silent auction. Volunteers are needed to help with the mailings, solicit auction items, organize the event, and much more. It's a great event and the volunteers participate enthusiastically.
