Mother and Daughter Planting

We have a number of ways you can help us take care of the properties we own and manage. Your experience will serve as an excellent opportunity to join other interested community members and learn about the unique ecology of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Native Plant Nursery: Located in San Pedro, our native plant nursery produces over seventy species native to the Peninsula. Typical projects include seed germination, plant propagation, transplanting seedlings, sorting and cleaning seed, and removing weeds from plant pots.

Seed Seekers: After training, collecting seeds from native plants to be grown into plants at the nursery.

Habitat Helpers: All of our properties need to have holes dug, plants put into the ground, and lots and lots of weeding. It's very satisfying to see an area transformed from a weed-covered hill to an area of native habitat. This is an excellent opportunity for clubs and school groups to help protect the natural diversity of the Peninsula.

Trail Building and Repair: We occasionally have trail repair days, particularly at the Forrestal Preserve. Special projects are identified, and groups of volunteers will use shovels and other equipment to do trail repairs.

See Volunteer Days for scheduled stewardship events.
